The Division of Homeless Solutions works with organizations across the state to prevent and end homelessness. Under the leadership of Assistant Secretary Danielle Meister, the creation of the Division of Homeless Solutions marks the elevation of the Department’s work to ensure residents make fast connections to permanent housing with supportive services individualized to each household’s needs.

Homelessness Solutions Program

A statewide response to address the issue of homelessness in Maryland, providing technical support and funding to Continuums of Care (CoCs) and Local Homeless Coalitions (LHCs), which coordinate funding and resources for service providers across the state.​

Shelter and Transitional Housing Facilities Grant Program

​Grants to improve or create transitional housing and emergency shelters.

Community Service Block Grant Program

Community Services Block Grant Program

Provides funding to support activities and programs conducted by Community Action Agencies or other non-profit organizations to eliminate poverty, promote self-sufficiency, and stimulate community revitalization. Additionally, the funds may be used to provide training and technical assistance and to support coordination and communication among Community Action Agencies.
