Making sure your property is energy efficient will provide savings on​ your monthly ​utility bills. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development offers programs that provide homeowners of all income levels with the resources to improve their home’s energy efficiency. Our programs can help with insulation, hot water system improvements, furnace repair or replacement, renewable energy systems, and other health and safety enhancements. The department also provides energy efficiency programs specifically for affordable, multifamily rental properties, as well as outreach and training to contractor partners who wish to participate in our programs for residential and small commercial projects.​

Helps limited income households with​ installation of energy conservation materials in their homes at no charge.​

Weatherization Assistance Program

Weatherization Assistance Program

Helps eligible limited income households across the state with the installation of energy conservation materials in their dwelling units. These measures both reduce the consumption of energy and the cost of maintenance for these homes.

Maryland Energy Assistance Program

Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP)

Helps limited income households achieve more comfortable homes with the repair or replacement of heating, cooling, and water heating systems.​

Multifamily Energy Efficiency and Housing Affordability Program

Multifamily Energy Efficiency and Housing Affordability Program (MEEHA)

Promotes energy efficiency and affordability in the State’s multifamily rental housing developments for limited​ and moderate income households. These improvements are intended to reduce a building’s energy use and lower utility bills for occupants and owners.

BeSMART Home Loan Program

BeSMART Home Loan Program

Provides financing to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of your home. By replacing and upgrading appliances, heating, ventilation and cooling systems, and whole house envelope improvements – homeowners can save on their utility bill.
