Maryland Housing Counseling Fund Program

​​​​​​​​The Maryland Housing Counseling Fund (MHCF) supports non-profit and local government organizations that provide housing counseling services and free or low-cost legal assistance. Awards are made annually on a competitive basis.

Eligible Applicants

Non-profit organizations and local government agencies.

Eligible Activities

MHCF provides operating support for housing counseling programs that include homebuyer education, pre-purchase counseling, foreclosure counseling, rental counseling, and financial capability coaching. MHCF also supports non-profit legal services providers that assist homeowners concerned about foreclosure; and renters concerned about eviction.

Reporting Requirements

Grantees are required to submit a quarterly progress report by the fifteenth of the month following the end of each quarter of the grant term.

How to Apply

The FY25 Maryland Housing Counseling Fund (MHCF) application round is open. An application training webinar will be held on May 2, 2024 at 1:00pm. Applications are due by May 31, 2024. Review the application guidance and forms linked below for additional information.
