Participation as an Eligible Contractor for the BeSMART Program
The Department of Housing and Community Development welcomes all contractors who are licensed and insured to help our Maryland Homeowner Borrowers.
If your customer is financing their project through the BeSMART Program, we will ask for:
- Your W-9 Form
- A Certificate of Insurance (this can be generic - you do not need MD DHCD or the Borrower's name on it)
- Your MD HVACR License or MHIC License

Marketing Materials for BeSMART Contractors
Contractors can help advertise the BeSMART program by letting customers know that financing is available through the BeSMART programs. To assist contractors in explaining the financing for energy efficiency improvements available through the program, DHCD has provided the following marketing materials. If you have existing clients within the targeted areas that require financing for energy efficient improvements, please encourage them to apply.
